Tip of the Month - February 2026
AGGRESSIVE RHYTHM
‘Aggressive Rhythm’ is a fundamental thought-process and belief system for all Bowlers that want to achieve their greatest ‘feel’ at all times.
First, let us talk about a Bowler that may lack confidence or lacks shot consistency.
In this scenario, the bowler will most likely be in ‘aiming-mode’ and that takes away from his/her feel to swing naturally and maximize rolling power WITH accuracy.
Someone that is aiming will play scared and tentative. When this happens, they may think they will increase their odds consistently by aiming BUT their instincts cannot help them fundamentally. As aresult, they will NOT roll a good quality shot on a consistent basis.
We ALWAYS want to ‘own every shot’, and by that, I mean to trust our instincts and play confident every single time we roll a ball (spares included).
Like they say, “A scared Bowler is a dead Bowler.”
Now then, what exactly is ‘Aggressive Rhythm’?
This is ‘owning every shot we roll’ with complete freedom and trust in our instincts!
Being in attack-mode all the time with rhythm & tempo!
Too much ‘aiming’ will take away our instinctive ‘ownership’ and our fundamental shot-making will be compromised (less than quality).
‘Aggressive Rhythm’ is all about swinging strong, free, and having a great tempo & rhythm (WITHOUT MUSCLE)!
Bob Apodaca (Past Colorado Rockies Pitching Coach) had a sign above the Players locker room & in the Bullpen, that every pitcher would see before warming up.
The words were: “Let’s see how hard we can throw it easy!”
THAT is ‘Aggressive Rhythm’!
NO MUSCLE! Just firming up with rhythm!
Make sense?
When a bowler understands the ‘Theory of Stroke & Roll’ it is all about the entire body working together in fluidity. There is NO stress or torque on ‘1’ part of the body but the whole body is flowing smoothly and strongly and working together (aggressively).
Again, NO MUSCLE!!
BUT complete freedom and owning every shot with strong (not soft) rhythm & feel!
Releasing yourself to be your best!
Keep ROCKIN’!
